Quick thoughts after watching Delhi -6. Spoilers ahead.

What the fudge just happened?
He actually has a conversation with his dead grand dad? Very Harry Potter 7- esque.
again, what the fudge?
humor – ok
first half bearable.
what is the whole point of the movie?
only saving grace is the music
the movie would have been good, had it been just a plain love story with no moral in it.
the colossal collective epiphany of all the denizens of Dilli 6 is actually pretty freaky!

Take a look at Savitri’s mukhakavalikalu (= facial expressions) in this song. The feminine shyness, the anxiety, the all consuming love – all embodied in a quick tumult of expressions. Of course, the brilliance of the movie Mayabazar deserves another post.

Genda Phool – Dilli 6

This is my current obsession. The folk tempo of the song reminds me of “batukamma” songs from my hometown in Andhra. A certain phrase/word is picked and is used as a filler at the end of sentence. For eg: “chandamama”, “enniyalo”, “uyyaalo” . The usage is very similar to the placement of “Genda phool” in that song. (genda phool = marigold)

The song starts out slow, but at about 0:46, it gets awesomely amazing!!
