This is my current obsession. The folk tempo of the song reminds me of “batukamma” songs from my hometown in Andhra. A certain phrase/word is picked and is used as a filler at the end of sentence. For eg: “chandamama”, “enniyalo”, “uyyaalo” . The usage is very similar to the placement of “Genda phool” in that song. (genda phool = marigold)
The song starts out slow, but at about 0:46, it gets awesomely amazing!!

Oh yeah. The title song totally kicks a$$ esp with the french lyrics. Rahman hit another home run with this one.
